On March 24, 2009 Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano announced plans to move more
than 450 law enforcement agents and equipment to the southern U.S. Border to combat Mexican
drug cartel violence. The additional security personnel need more “eyes in the sky” if they are to
have a significant impact on curbing drug traffic and violence. Unfortunately, much needed
helicopters and surveillance aircraft will now be delayed for two years due to funding issues. The
NEOS Mosquito is ready now and can be delivered in time to support the planned deployments.
